Rob Oppenheim Wins Red Bull Final 5 at New England Pro Golf Tour’s Pine Hills Open

PLYMOUTH, Mass. (September 28, 2006) – Rob Oppenheim of Andover, Mass., birdied the 17th hole Thursday afternoon, vaulting him to victory in the Red Bull Final 5 at the New England Pro Golf Tour’s inaugural Pinehills Open.

Oppenheim finished with five points – one ahead of Eli Zackheim, Todd Westfall, Julien Trudeau, Jim Renner and Tele Wightman. Oppenheim was tied for the lead heading to the 17th hole before hitting his approach to three feet and closing out the birdie to earn the win and $500 first-place check.

“It’s a nice bonus,’’ said Oppenheim, who also won the tournament proper by four shots. “I drink it all the time, and it can really help.’’

Geoffrey Sisk increased his season total to 29 points and holds a 13-point lead heading into the season’s final event. John Elliott is in second with 16 points.

The Red Bull Final 5 is designed to identify the player each week that finishes the strongest: The one who performs best down the stretch when focus and concentration tend to start declining, and fatigue begins to set in. The program is designed around the idea that Red Bull has been developed for periods of increased mental and physical exertion and has proven to benefit golfers by providing increased endurance, focus and concentration.

Points are accumulated during each round of each event during the New England Pro Golf Tour season, and the season-long winner will receive $5,000 and an all-expenses-paid trip to a Red Bull event.

The Red Bull Final 5 will next be conducted when the New England Pro Golf Tour stops at Twisted Dune in Egg Harbor Township Oct. 3-5 for the season’s final event.
