Trudeau opens with 71 during inaugural event at Club de
Golf I’lle de Montreal

MONTREAL (September 19, 2006) –
Charlie Meola of
Mamaroneck, NY, shot a 4-under par (66) on Tuesday to take the first-round
lead at the inaugural Bonjour Quebec – the New England Pro Golf Tour’s
first international event.
Meola recorded four birdies at Club de Golf I’lle de Montreal and holds
a 2-shot lead heading into Wednesday’s second round. Mike
Baker of North Conway, NH, shot 68, while Martin Catalioto and Eli
Zackheim shot 69.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament in Montreal runs through Thursday and is
the ninth stop on the 2006 schedule for the New England Pro Golf Tour –
the premier developmental golf tour in the country.
Among the players with local ties, Montreal native Julien Trudeau shot 71;
Eric Cote-Jinchereau of Sainte-Foy shot 74; and Sylvain Leblanc of
Stanstead shot 81.
Among the other Canadian players, Brennan Webb of Bracebridge, Ont., shot
75; Drew Mayhew of Kingston, Ont., shot 78; John Kelly of Ottawa shot 76;
and Lee Curry of Kemptville, Ont., shot 74.
Geoffrey Sisk of Marshfield, Mass., shot 74 as he bids for a record fifth
victory of the season.
Following the Bonjour Quebec, the Tour heads to Pinehills Golf Course in
Plymouth, Mass., Sept. 26-28 for the inaugural Pinehills Open.
