Cleveland Golf Tour Atkinson Final

Atkinson, NH-June 12th-Geoff Sisk fired a 2 under par 70 in the final round of the Cleveland Golf Tour’s season opening Atkinson Open to earn a one shot victory over Sean O’Hair and Eli Zackheim. His 7 under par total of 209 also earned him the $12,000 winner’s check. Sisk began the day tied at 5 under par with Zackheim, who closed with a one under par 71 and finished tied for second at 6 under par with Sean O’Hair.

“Anytime you win, it’s got to feel satisfying,” said Sisk, who played a bogey free round that included birdies on the par 4 7th and 9th holes. Sisk spent the entire round in a spirited battle with playing partner Eli Zackheim, who actually held the lead before making a costly double bogey on the par 5 16th hole. “I played well the whole day, just one little blip on 16, nothing I could foresee really.”

O’Hair got off to a hot start with birdies on one and two, but quickly gave it all back with bogies on 3 and 5. After making four more birdies, he was tied with Sisk heading into 18, but his chip shot on the short par 4 went too far and he missed the 8 foot par putt coming back.

Kyle Gallo closed with back to back rounds of 2 under 70 to finish solo 4th. Atkinson resident Marc Lawless finished one shot back, tied for 5th with Shannon Sykora, who fired a closing 4 under par 68, to share medalist honors for the day with Jerry Courville. Gary Carpenter, Matt Donovan, and Jim Hallet finished in a 3 way tie for 7th at 2 under par and Justin Goodhue rounded out the top 10.

As for Sisk, he will now prepare for his 4th United States Open and second at storied Shinnecock Hills. “I’m extremely excited,” he said.

The Atkinson Open is the first of 10 events on the Cleveland Golf Tour schedule. The next event begins Friday at Vermont National Golf Club in South Burlington, Vermont.
