Geoff Sisk Monday qualifies for Deutsche Bank Championship
Cleveland veteran set to make 2nd PGA Tour
appearance of season
Stow, MA-Geoff
Sisk fired a 4-under par 68 Monday on his way to grabbing one of
four spots into this week’s Deutsche Bank Championship on the
PGA Tour at the TPC of Boston.
“I worked hard
this week, and it showed,” said Sisk, who made a quick turn
around following a disappointing round of 77 in last week’s
Buick Championship Monday Qualifier. “I’m really starting to
play good golf,” he added.
Sisk, who has won
four tournaments since June, was a regular PGA Tour member as
recently as 1999.
This event mark’s
Sisk’s second appearance on the PGA Tour this season, dating
back to his tie for 40th in the U.S. Open at
Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, NY.
In addition to
Sisk, the Cleveland Golf Tour as a whole has had a significant
amount of success qualifying for PGA Tour events this season.
Just
last week, Eli Zackheim qualified for the Buick Championship,
narrowly missing the cut. In July, Bill Link appeared in the
B.C. Open, also just missing the 36 hole cut line. Sisk,
meanwhile, was joined at the U.S. Open by Steve Sokol, a
frequent competitor on the European Challenge Tour, who mounted
a second round rally at Shinnecock but failed to advance to the
weekend.
In
just its second season as an event, the Deutsche Bank
Championship has quickly established itself as one of the
premiere stops on tour. This year’s field is highlighted by
defending champion Adam Scott and world #1 Tiger Woods.
