Zackheim starts strong on Nationwide Tour

Opening 69 leaves Oregon resident t8th at Samsung Canadian PGA

July 22nd

Cambridge, Ontario-Following his second successful Monday qualifier in as many attempts, Eli Zackheim fired a 3-under par 69 in the first round of the Samsung Canadian PGA yesterday and sits just one shot out of first place.

Starting on the back side at Whistle Bear Golf Club, Zackheim began his assault quickly with an opening birdie on the par 4, 10th hole. He then added birdies on the 15th and 16th holes to head to the front side in 3-under par 33.

The Portland native then offset his lone bogey on the par 4, 1st hole with a closing birdie on the par 5, 9th hole en route to posting one of 22 sub 70 rounds on day one.

Zackheim is looking to avenge a missed cut in last month’s Northeast Pennsylvania Classic.

Brad Adamonis, who has made several appearances on the Cleveland Golf Tour, sits in a tie for 59th place following an opening round of even par 72.
