            Hiawatha, NY-
Bill Link IV, of Acton, Ma, fired a 3-under par round of 69 at Hiawatha Landing on Monday to earn one of four spots into this week’s B.C. Open on the PGA Tour.

Link was one of eight Cleveland Golf Tour members who endured the more than 5 hour drive to central New York in the hopes of earning a spot into an event that has opportunity written all over it. With many of the PGA Tour’s best players on the other side of the Atlantic competing in the British Open, this week’s B.C. Open field is chock full of young upstarts such as Bill Link who are looking for a stage to showcase their talents.

This tournament marks the second time Link has Monday qualified for a PGA Tour event following a missed cut in the 2001 Buick Championship.

Other Cleveland members who competed in the Monday qualifier include Passaconaway Open champion Shannon Sykora, veteran Joe Cioe, Eli Zackheim, and Jeff Seavey, who Monday qualified for last year’s Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston.

First round action begins Thursday at the par 72, 6,974 yard En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott, NY.
